Privacy Policy
This policy describes which personal data is processed when you visit this website, buy Talkie and use it. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP); for people in the EU/EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies as well. Last updated: October 2026. This English version is a translation for your convenience. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.

2. Visiting this website
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., USA. When you open a page, the server processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser). These logs serve secure operation and are deleted by the hosting provider after a short time.
This website uses no analytics or tracking tools and no advertising. Fonts, images and videos are served from our own server.
3. Cookies
This website sets no cookies for advertising, statistics or tracking. That is why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing you would need to consent to.
Only when you sign in (talkie.ch/login) does your browser keep your sign-in in local storage (localStorage) so you stay signed in. This is technically necessary for the function you request yourself and therefore needs no consent. “Sign out” deletes it.
Only when you click “Buy Talkie” does the checkout of Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) open as a window over this page. This loads a script from that provider, and the checkout may set cookies that are technically necessary for the purchase (e.g. cart, fraud protection). They are required for the purchase you requested and therefore need no consent. If you sign up for the newsletter, your email address is sent directly to this provider (see “Newsletter”). If you reach the Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) store via a partner’s link, it may set a cookie there to attribute the purchase to that partner (see “Affiliate program”). The privacy policy of Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) applies to these cookies.
4. Account and sign-in
For an account we store your email address, when you signed in and – if you sign in with Google, Microsoft, GitHub or Discord – the name, profile picture and identifier the provider sends us. Your account also holds your purchases and subscriptions (plan, status, term, licence key), which Lemon Squeezy reports to us after purchase. Purpose: signing in on the website and in the Talkie app, showing and managing your purchases. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
Accounts are stored with Supabase, Inc. (USA) on servers in Zurich, Switzerland; Supabase processes them on our behalf. If you sign in with Google (Google Ireland Ltd.), Microsoft (Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd.), GitHub (GitHub, Inc., USA) or Discord (Discord Inc., USA), that provider learns that you are signing in to Talkie; its privacy policy applies as well. Sign-in links by email are sent by Supabase. To stop bots from triggering sign-in emails to other people’s addresses, Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) checks technical browser data when you request the link to tell whether a human is asking; it sets no advertising or tracking cookies (legitimate interest, preventing abuse).
When you sign in to the Talkie app, the website passes your licence key only to Talkie on the same computer (address 127.0.0.1), not over the internet.
You can have your account deleted at any time: an email to support.talkie@gmail.com is enough. Lemon Squeezy keeps purchase records for the legally required periods.
5. Contact by email
When you write to us (including via the contact form, which opens your email program), we process your details to answer your request. We do not pass them on.
6. Purchase and payment
Sales are handled by Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) as the reseller (“Merchant of Record”). Name, email address, billing country and payment details are processed directly by this provider – also to calculate the correct taxes for your country. We never receive card details. Its privacy policy applies in addition.
We receive your name, email address and purchase date in order to send you the download link, provide support and keep our accounts. Accounting records are kept for the statutory period of 10 years (Art. 958f Swiss Code of Obligations).
As a customer, we may email you information about updates and features of Talkie. You can object to this at any time – via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. You only receive promotions for other offers if you have agreed to the newsletter (checkbox at purchase or sign-up on the website).
7. Newsletter
If you sign up for the newsletter (at the bottom of the website or with the checkbox at purchase), we store your email address to send you news about Talkie: updates, new features and offers. The legal basis is your consent. The address is stored with Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA), which sends the emails on our behalf; this includes measuring whether emails are opened.
You can withdraw your consent at any time – via the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. We then remove your address from the list. Signing up is voluntary and not a condition of purchase.
8. Affiliate program
If you apply as a partner (affiliate), you do so directly with Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA). It processes your application details, the attribution of purchases to partner links and commission payouts; its privacy policy applies. We see your partner profile and the purchases you referred. This website sets no cookies for the affiliate program.
9. Cancelling without signing in
If you cancel via “Cancel contracts here” (/cancel), we store your details (type of cancellation and reason if given, name if given, email address, contract, requested date) with the date and time, in order to carry out the cancellation, confirm receipt and be able to prove it. The legal basis is the performance of the contract and our legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). The data is held by Supabase on servers in Zurich and deleted three years after the contract ends.
10. Transfers abroad
Some service providers are based in the USA: Cloudflare, Inc., USA (hosting), Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA) (sales, newsletter, affiliate program), Supabase, Inc. (accounts; stored in Zurich) and Google, Microsoft, GitHub and Discord if you sign in with them. For companies certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, an adequacy decision applies (EU: Decision (EU) 2023/1795; Switzerland: Annex 1 of the Data Protection Ordinance, since 15 September 2024). Where no certification exists, transfers are based on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR), recognised by the FDPIC; they form part of these providers’ data processing agreements.
11. The Talkie software
Talkie processes speech and questions on your PC: language model, speech recognition, wake word and voice run locally. Memory, notes, diary and settings are stored in the “data” folder on your PC. We receive none of it.
Only when you use a feature that needs the internet does Talkie send the necessary details to the respective service: place names to OpenStreetMap (place search, maps), coordinates to MET Norway (weather), search terms to DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia and Google News, stops to transport.opendata.ch, currencies to Frankfurter, search terms for 3D models to Sketchfab and Hugging Face; the internet speed test downloads test data from Cloudflare. Once, Talkie downloads country borders and a speech model from GitHub or Hugging Face. You can switch off each of these online services individually in Talkie under Settings > Privacy. To activate your licence, Talkie sends your licence key, a device name and a random device ID to Lemon Squeezy, LLC (USA); from time to time it checks there whether the key is still valid. Also from time to time, Talkie asks talkie.ch (hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., USA) whether an update is available; as with a website visit, technical data such as the IP address is processed. Optional and only after you set them up: Spotify, your email account, ntfy.sh (messages to your phone) and smart home (Philips Hue and Home Assistant are contacted directly on your home network; only when setting up Hue does Talkie ask the Philips service discovery.meethue.com once for the bridge address). Transcription, subtitles, interpreter, flashcards and budget work locally only.
Some of these services are located outside Switzerland, including in countries without an adequate level of data protection (e.g. the USA). Their processing is governed by the privacy policies of the respective providers.
12. Your rights
You can request information about the data we hold about you, and its correction or deletion, unless a statutory retention obligation applies. Just write to the email address above.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC): www.edoeb.admin.ch.
For people in the EU/EEA: we process data to perform the purchase contract and provide support (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), for the newsletter based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), for information about Talkie sent to customers based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)), to meet statutory retention obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) and to operate the website securely (Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interest). You additionally have the right to restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country.
